Hello,

I want to share my experience playing JackBox Party games with my peers. While I may not have a ton of experience when compared to my classmates, I have played several games from the series and was fairly knowledgeable about the games we were playing. We played a variety of games together and for this blog post, I will be focusing on the game called: Triva Murder Party.

Despite the name, Trivia Murder Party, is not a scary game and should be widely popular among all ages. The premise of the game is that you and a group of people are trapped in with a killer, and you have to escape by answering trivia questions. These questions can be of various forms, and often have topics that are outside of common knowledge. This makes the game interesting as when a player fails to answer correctly, the group is taken to play a fun minigame. The game holds a wide variety of minigames, and my favorite were the math and password minigames.

For the trivia sections, you have your fairly straightforward mechanics of voting on the correct answer. However in the minigames, you can have a wider variety of mechanics. For example, in the password minigame, you are suddenly thrown into a cooperative mechanic where the players that are alive have to guess a password of the dying players. This was a cool mechanic to watch as normally the players would be against each other.

For this particular game, the audience is playing along with the other players as someone that is trying to escape as well. It definitely added another element for the players to think about as here came a player that is guaranteed to have a better understanding. This is due to the mechanic where the audience’s choices are majority based. Meaning, even if one person chooses the incorrect answer, as long as enough people choose the right answer, they will win.
